Zack Calandra has been the voice of the Mingus Marauders providing exciting play by play action since 1991. Starting with an up start basketball program that a few years later went all the way to the state Championship game led by former Head Coach Scott Brown.
In his 25 years of sports broadcasting Calandra has covered Yavapai College Basketball, Mingus Football, Basketball, Baseball and even a wrestling meet way back when.
Broadcasting Mingus Marauder football since 1992, Calandra had the call from University of Phoenix stadium when head coach Bob Young brought the Marauders only Football Championship back to the fans at home in 1997. As well as near misses in 2005 and 2007.
Calandra has been synonymous with Mingus football for the last quarter century.
Calandra was also the play by play voice for the Yavapai College Mens Basketball team for 13 years. Starting with former Jayhawk  Dolph Caroll at the Helm. Then following the Roughriders through their run at the National Tournament two years in a row 2002/03 and 2003/04. Under the tutelage of former Head Coach and former Phoenix Suns Brooks Thompson. Howard Brown came up from Glendale next and finally current Embry Riddle head basketball coach Eric Fundalewicz.
Winner of numerous Outstanding Play By Play awards from the Associated Press. Experienced, Energetic and Exciting Broadcast are what Calandra brings to the game.
Zack Calandra has lived in the Cottonwood area since September of 1991.
Zack has 3 kids, all of whom participate in athletics.
Calandra is the Head Football Coach at Cottonwood Middle School.
He has coached in the Verde Valley Little League for 15 years
and is on the Little League Board of Directors.
He has also coached in the Cottonwood Parks and Rec basketball league for 7 years.
Zack has been the owner of Calandra Builders llc since 2004.
